DIVIDE, COLORADO - Stay ÖÖD, the adventure hospitality platform behind more than 800 mirror houses worldwide, has opened Stay ÖÖD By Glass Peak Retreats, its first destination in the Colorado Rockies. Three mirrored-glass houses now stand on a ridge in Teller County, each offering 180 degrees of floor-to-ceiling glass toward the peaks, under an hour west of Colorado Springs, around two hours from Denver, and a short drive from Woodland Park, Cripple Creek, and more than a million acres of national forest.
The location was chosen for the view and kept for everything around it. At over 9,000 feet, the air is thin and clear; the skies are dark enough to pick out the Milky Way from bed, and elk, mule deer, and hawks move through the property on their own schedule. At first light, the glass fills with the west face of Pikes Peak; by late afternoon it holds the whole sweep of the range, and in winter the houses take on the colour of the snow around them and all but disappear. Guests don't look at the landscape from a window. They sleep inside a reflection of it.
