Created in direct response to feedback from both private clients and hospitality partners, this new two-bedroom model offers a flexible, premium solution for families, small groups, or anyone seeking a more spacious, design-led nature stay.
Expanding the Full ÖÖD Collection
The Big Monolith completes ÖÖD’s full product range, joining the Glämping House, Signature House, Extended House, Limited Edition Golden House – and the range of Mini, Medium, and Large Saunas. With space to comfortably host up to four guests, it’s the perfect fit for group stays or families – whether for a private retreat, a short-term rental property, or part of a larger hospitality concept.
“Our goal was to create a model that offers more space and comfort without compromising our core design values,” said Jaak Tiik, Co-Founder of ÖÖD. “The Big Monolith reflects that – practical, beautiful, and built to last. Based on feedback and evolving needs from our clients, we designed this new model to better align with how people actually want to stay and relax in our spaces.”
Adaptable Layouts, Bigger Impact
The Big Monolith is built with flexibility in mind – clients can choose layouts with an expanded living room and kitchen, or with two fully separate bedrooms. Based on feedback from our clients, the model can also be configured as a spacious one-bedroom LOFT-style house, offering a luxurious and open-plan retreat for couples or solo travellers seeking more space and privacy. We've also co-developed custom solutions such as spa-style layouts and large saunas.

Its larger format makes it suitable as an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) – a growing trend in the US housing market, where many homeowners and developers are seeking sustainable, stylish solutions to meet modern living needs, especially in light of housing shortages driven by climate and economic factors.
Successful Launch in Iceland – Hekla Horizon Site

The first Big Monolith houses were installed at our Hekla Horizon site in Iceland, which opened in February 2025, and where all five ÖÖD house sizes and models are now represented in one location. The response has been overwhelmingly positive: in its first full month, the site achieved a 72% average occupancy rate – highlighting strong demand for larger, premium mirror houses in nature-focused destinations. In places like Iceland, travellers often explore with family or friends, making a four-person house the ideal fit. For hosts, this also creates the potential for higher nightly rates and broader appeal.
